Sisterhood United Night

Sisterhood United Night

I am drafting this post just after midnight. I have just arrived home from what I can only describe as one of the most blessed and amazing nights of my life and I wanted to get my thoughts down while they are still fresh. I’ll start by saying that I almost didn’t attend Hillsong Sisterhood United Night last night. So many things seemed to try and stop me from going. But as soon as I walked into the foyer of the Capitol Hotel in Düsseldorf, I knew that the enemy had tried so hard and yet failed in his mission to keep me from receiving my blessing – I had made it with more than enough time to catch up with a friend, register for the next Sisterhood United Night in February and grab a good seat. The stage was set for an amazing evening with the...

100% Handcrafted Winter Market – Part II

100% Handcrafted Winter Market – Part II

My hubby was waking me. Wait. What? Yep: the hubster who could sleep through anything, including his 5 days old baby crying right next to him, was waking ME!!!! He had heard my alarm and I didn’t. Now he was waking me and telling me that the day had come. The day had finally arrived and I was going to showcase my talents. Suffice it to say: I wanted to stay in bed, under the covers and just wait until 6pm. I didn’t feel like I was ready. Yes, my cookies were packed and ready to be displayed. But I was not ready. I was not ready to be criticized. I wasn’t ready to smile genuinely at people who would come up to my table, see my cookies and walk on by without interest. I wasn’t ready to schlep on back home with all my cookies in hand. I was...

AdventMan

AdventMan

We are heading into our third Christmas in Germany. The first two Christmases, the hubster and I put up an Advent Calendar for his team at the office. The first year was pretty easy: I bought 24 silk bags from Depot and went on a bit of a shopping spree to get 24 little gifts. Then I sat in our hotel room (we were staying in the hotel while we searched for an apartment – having just moved here from Dubai), and I wrapped each little present (be it a small chocolate or fridge magnet) in festive wrapping paper, put them inside the silk baggies and tied them to a long thick string. On the last day of November, at around 10pm, hubby and I went to his office and hung it up, ready for them team to come to work the next day. It worked like a charm as the girls...

100% Handcrafted Winter Market Part I

100% Handcrafted Winter Market Part I

I am an introvert. There! I said it! That is one of the reasons why I blog: I love writing because I feel my thoughts are better laid out on paper than spoken aloud. I don’t particularly enjoy being in the limelight and I very rarely crawl out of my comfort zone. So when my friend Mama S told me that she had big plans for me, I was hesitant to say the least. First off, I thought this crazy American chic was going to go wild with me and perhaps even turn me into a flying monkey. But I was wrong. Instead, she actually helped me gently move out of my comfort zone and got me out  into the big bad world of crafting – and it’s not such a bad world really. A few months ago, she suggested I think about having my own table at their next 100% Handcrafted...

Reviewing the Snu:Mee 3-in-1

Reviewing the Snu:Mee 3-in-1

Best thing since sliced bread or just another gadget marketed to new parents who don’t know any better?Recently we received the Snu:Mee 3-in-1 as a gift. Our Peanut  is already 9 months old and since she was about 4 weeks old we have been using a “White Noise” app for her naps as well as at night. It has worked brilliantly on the “Heavy Rain” sound about 80% of the time. And she knows that when it is turned on, it’s sleep time. So when we received the Snu:Mee device, I was a little hesitant to use it since we were happy with just the plain white noise. So before I get into my review, here is a little bit about the Snu:Mee for those who have not heard of it… It is a Baby Monitor; Music Box and MP3 Player in one and retails...
